Dorian Augustus was a planned pregnancy. While Matt and Ashley were perfectly happy with their eldest son (Damien), Ashley convinced Matt that he needed a playmate; someone who could entertain and keep him on his toes. April 20, 1986, just four days shy of his due date, Dorian entered the world. At 9 pounds, 13 ounces, he was a hefty baby from the beginning and as he got older, he got rounder. At his six-month check up, he was placed in the 98th percentile for weight for a boy his age; jowls, cankles and roll after roll of baby fat paired with white blond curls and big snappy blue eyes made for an adorable child, or so Ashley was told as often as she took him out. Followed by Dominic two years later, the younger Cerson made Dorian a middle child. Despite his initial excitement for a little brother, he quickly grew resentful when he realized the attention would no longer fall to him, but Dominic as the baby.
As he grew, Dorian slimmed down, but it wasn't until he reached puberty that he obtained a weight that fell in the overweight category (as opposed to obese). Because of his size, he didn't spend his time playing sports, or dancing, or singing like Damien, but rather with his nose buried in books. Magazines, old text books, fairy tales, the subject didn't matter. At thirteen, he took an active interest in cars, and tools, and building things, and spend countless hours with his father underneath the hood of the family vehicle. The ins and outs of engines intrigued him and he loved finding out what made them tick.
School came extraordinarily easy to Dorian, and he managed a 3.8 gpa without blinking. His thirst for knowledge, patience, and willingness to accept help and try new things meant he was a wonderful student. So naturally, when he dropped out during his senior year, his parents were shocked, confused and angry. Despite their pushing, he didn't returned to school, and instead, took a job at a family friend's autobody shop. He'd had a bit of informal training by his father, but much of his knowledge was gained through trial and error under his new bosses guidance.
After struggling with his weight for much of his teen years, Dorian took it upon himself to slim down. Rather than eating what he wanted, he planned out meals; he swapped soda for water, nearly eliminated his intake of breads, milk, and cheeses, and pitched his stash of little debbie snack cakes. A gym membership made him insecure - what with all the eyes on his portly frame, so he only lasted a few weeks before he finally took it upon himself to buy a set of weights and a bench, as well as a hand full of other odds and ends (including an mp3 player for evening walks). Those walks grew longer and longer, and then morphed into short sprints, and eventually he took up jogging. He despised every second of it almost as much as he despised himself... But his weight continued to drop, and he found rolls and love handles turning into muscles. He'd never had muscles before, but he loved having them... And women were finally beginning to take second looks at him. He really liked that, so despite his distaste for anything remotely related to exercise, he adapted the lifestyle. The one thing he couldn't get rid of were the stretch marks, and while he should've been proud of how far he'd come, and viewed them as proof... He'd found himself disgusted. No matter the ointments, and creams, aloe vera, castor oil, etc., they didn't budge. So, he began calling around to see who could cover them up. One tattoo lead to another, then a third and forth, and he eventually stopped counting, but continued adding them on.
With the economy in the toilet, Dorian put in applications all over the place for a second job. He didn't particularly want to work more, but he needed to get his bills paid, and settle his debts, so he started a second job in the city - as a bouncer. His height and muscles paired with his tattoos ensured few tested him, and he grew rather close to the bartenders, waiters and waitresses, and came to see them as his second family. In 2009, after getting his finances straightened out, and squirrelling away what he didn't need to get by, Dorian applied and approved for a first time home owners loan.
The house was a small, two bedroom, two bath in dire need of some serious TLC - it was part of why he'd gotten such a great deal on it. Over the years, he has replaced what he could, but it's been one thing after another. In the summer of 2012, as a wedding gift, he built a farmhouse table and benches for a friend, and began getting calls from mutual friends requesting information on his tables, and wanting to know if he built other things as well. As he was spending his free time tinkering anyway, he thought it harmless to take on a few projects for cash.
Within months it became clear that this could offset some of the extra costs of the renovations and he officially went into business for himself (more because he had to file taxes). Working out of his garage, and later, his storage shed, he began to sell farm tables, benches, consoles and chairs in a wide variety of stains and varnishes. In September 2016, Dorian quit his job at the club, and at the urging of his mother, decided to work toward getting his GED. He enrolled in night classes shortly after.

personality ◊ A mixture of fearless warrior and undisciplined child, he is an action oriented person, extroverted and assertive.
◊ He is confident, fiery, bold, spontaneous and independent.
◊ Dorian is particularly masculine and virile, and while one wouldn't think it, he's in touch with his inner child. The latter manifests in both good and bad ways; on the plus side he tends to be very fun loving and adventurous, and on the negative he can be very sulky if he doesn't get his own way, or feels ignored.
◊ Uncomplicated, aggressive and impulsive, Dorian can sometimes be seen as selfish, insensitive, domineering, blunt, outspoken and impatient. He's never afraid of taking a risk. Lacking in self control he more than compensates in resilience - he is one tough cookie, and aches to live life to the fullest.
facts ◊ In 2013, Dorian became an ordained minister. He has performed a handful of weddings for friends, and friends of friends, but doesn't advertise his services - his contact info is generally passed by word of mouth.
◊ In his spare time, Dorian does odd jobs to help out family and friends - from light mechanic work, to roofing, to replacing carpet and tile. He loves to work with his hands, and has a difficult time saying no when asked.
◊ A typical middle child, Dorian often felt overlooked and ignored - Damien was older, so much of their parents attention fell to him, and because Dominic was the baby, he caught most of what was left over. Now that the boys are older, Dorian is more comfortable in his own skin than he's ever been, but still suffers from Ugly Duckling Syndrome.
◊ Dorian befriended a deaf boy (Mark) in Kindergarten, and they were thick as thieves right up until Mark's parents relocated to California when they were juniors in high school. Dorian learned American Sign Language through Mark's parents. While they two have not seen one another in years, they e-mail and text regularly.
